Neve started taking steps today on her own. Her own choice. She was usually carrying something/toy in her hand and took a few steps towards me, Rohan and our friend Dev tonight. She walked about 4 or 5 times today. Unfortunately, Daddy missed it and she wouldn’t do it on demand. We’ll see how the next week goes!
Rohan is swimming-well floating/gliding on his front! at 3 years, 3 months old! It doesn’t occur to him to not do what his teacher asks. He got goggles today as she said he could have them now as he is comfortable with his eyes in. He was happy to have them!
Short clips from today’s swimming lesson. I mainly focused on Rohan as I’ve got lots of Edzea from the past.
I’ve got the kids signed up for swimming lessons for the month of June in an outdoor/backyard pool program. Private lessons for each child at the same time. Rohan was the STAR today. I wish Neve had slept so I could have filmed him. Face in/blowing bubbles, floating on his back-almost solo. He was a ROCK STAR! So proud of him.
Edzea on the other hand was HORRIBLE! She mimicked the teacher, continually asked questions about the pool, the area, why there were only girl instructors. Kept comparing it to her lessons at the Goulbourn Pool and SWAM horribly. It was a shock! The instructor was getting her to do beginner stuff she can do standing on her head. I may not put her in the next session, just leave Rohan in solo if she doesn’t improve dramatically! So we are back to bribes for her. IF she swims well, I will take them for ice cream at the end of the week. Rohan doesn’t even need bribes.
She says she just wasn’t used to the pool and couldn’t stand properly. AAAHHH!! She is soooo frustrating. The kid swims like a fish and decides today during her very expensive private lesson to fool around. I couldn’t believe it!
Anyhow, Neve is ALMOST walking. If she would just let go of my little pinkie finger she could do it. I’m not sure what the hesitation is. Maybe when Bumpa gets here in mid-June, she’ll take off! Hopefully.
Here are some pics from the past month of the kids in action:
Edzea the bed hoarder went to get into her bed for her nap yesterday and it was crawling with ants. She had taken one of our brown camping boxes to make a “bed” for Brownie in her bed and it happened to be home to a horde of ants as well. So, needless to say…she was in my bed for her nap and then last night and of course Rohan too.
This stuff always goes down when Tim goes away. Tim’s big plan for his “work” fishing trip was: Sleep until 11am and then read, then nap again, eat & sleep. Although after loading a ton of books on to his Kindle, he promptly forgot to bring it. I did have a little smirk on my face when I saw that.
Anyways, Edzea is banned from having anything in her bed other than books and bedding from now on.
Back from first “tent” camping trip with kids ever! all under one roof and although sleep wasn’t completely uninterrupted, kids LOVED it! Some sand, some sun, some rain, great friends to help us through it -Maria, Yose & kids. To top it all off-we saw a turtle and beaver via their canoe! and a porcupine sleeping in his tree amongst other small wonders. Kids were enthralled. Looking to book our next trip soon!
Rohan was the most excited of all of them. He loved EVERYTHING! and was interested in EVERYTHING. Will post pics once Tim fixes the memory card problem again.
Great pictures for my landscape painting class as well!
The drive was only about an hour and 10 minutes from our house. Gorgeous drive west along Hwy 7 through a cute little town called Perth that was one to go back to for sure! Stayed at a campground called Murphy’s Point Provincial Campground. No motorized boats allowed. Access to the Rideau River from the little lake? or bay we were situated on.
Neve loves dirt, sand and water too!
Rohan has been able to spell his name for about 6 months but he now writes it all by himself. Just wanted to get this down. At 3 yrs, 2 months he can write his full name. He’s also started drawing figures/faces etc.
Plus, today I was asked to come to the preschool for a Mother’s day presentation. So cute, he sang all the words and kept giving me hugs/kisses for the Mother’s Day songs etc. Presented me with a painted pot with pansies planted in it. (He’d been telling me about it all week!) I pretended to be surprised. I’ll upload picture of it when I get a chance.
Nana left today after a quick 2 weeks visit. It felt super fast this time around. No sickness for a change and she and I actually got to go to my painting class together on Sundays. It was a fantastic visit and we’re going to miss her. Summer isn’t too far off!
