January 2016

Some things we’ve been up to during the days! Skiing and skating and birdwatching! Today Neve & I went to the Stoney Swamp trail with her Preschool class and fed the chickadees. Neve was particularly fascinated by the Bird Rehab Centre with the sick birds. I couldn’t get her away from the window. We are going to go back there during visiting hours one day. 12-3 Neve is starting to ski. She knows how to do pizza and is starting to turn on the little hill. Rohan started moving on skates this week. His class is going out every Monday at lunch and he was so motivated, we went to the Cottreaus on Monday night again to practice!

Edzea singing at her Remembrance Day ceremony. French and English. The English one was about love and signing love and peace. Brownies, Beavers etc were encouraged to wear their uniforms. We have lost her scarf in the lice episodes in our house! Her french teacher, Mme Ypma, is the long haired tall one at the back!

T & T Asian Food Night

We are making an attempt to expose the kids to more foods. Different flavours etc over the next little while. So far, we’ve had two Asian food nights out. Edzea has been the star so far. Last night we went out to the Asian food market in Ottawa with Maria & Yose & family and picked from a variety of Asian Foods. They had taste testing stations where the kids could try sea cucumber-Edzea & Tim tried it! Dumplings, noodles, Asian ice cream and more! We took a variety home to the Cormiers and tried it all there. Edzea tried everything. Calamari ( squid legs) which she loved, ngiri sushi-salmon-turns out she likes it raw too! Various spring rolls and noodles. Rohan and Neve tried cucumber roll-neither liked it, noodles and Rohan now eats breaded prawns and loves them. Slowly but surely we hope to open up their palettes!

Halloween 2015

We had about 24 people at our Halloween party/ trick or treating night but I didn’t take many pictures. Our family, Auntie Katherine ( Uncle Allan is in a play) Yose, Maria, Mathieu, Noemi, Janet, Peter, Ariane, Liz, Duncan, Chloe, Emilia, Doreen, Min, Yuliah, Ayden, Krista & Matt & 2 yr old Blake plus our new neighbours across the street-Matthew & daughter Brynna. Here’s what I do have. Clear skies, warm 9 degrees. The kids got to go through a haunted woods walk at one neighbours. They walked through various scary doorways, past spooky live people lurking in the bush ( the scariest one did not jump out on Neve thank goodness as we lost Ariane after the first few steps in-Janet & Peter had to remove her quickly as she was screaming and crying!) Neve had Mommy, Auntie Katherine, Chloe and Edzea surrounding her and felt quite safe. At the end of the walk there was a scary zombie carving up a person on a table. Edzea did not appreciate this one! Then you got to get a huge bag of candy and were offered hot chocolate at the bonfire. Really well done! We had a potluck for dinner and Janet brought make your own Poutine which was a big hit! Unfortunately I did not get many pictures but here’s what I did get!
